The Shalom Health Care Center is one of LUNA’s many community partners working diligently to support the basic healthcare needs of the global community in Indianapolis. Each year they host an annual health fair offering several thousand attendees the opportunity to receive free health screenings, including immunizations, sports physicals, hearing and vision screenings, women’s services, and HIV and STD testing. The health fair also provides an opportunity for attendees to learn about programs and services available to help support their basic needs.
The 2018 Shalom Health Fair had over 100 community partners exhibit and distribute information about their services. LUNA was ecstatic to share the day with like-minded organizations, including Eskenazi Health, Morales Group, the Indiana Civil Rights Commission, Children’s Bureau, Financial Center, Prime Smile, Vanguard Collegiate of Indianapolis, and many more. Indianapolis Mayor, Joe Hogsett, was also in attendance.
Despite light rain throughout much of the day, an estimated 3,000 people from a large variety of cultural backgrounds and all age groups attended this year’s event. It was truly an event for everyone and LUNA was grateful to be involved. And continues to be grateful to call the Shalom Health Care Center a long-standing community partner.
