When imparting critical information, face-to-face conversations are the most reliable way to ensure mutual understanding. This is especially true when you’re communicating with limited English proficiency (LEP) speakers or those who are Deaf or hard of hearing. On-site interpreters provide certainty that both parties’ messages are being fully understood.

With highly qualified and experienced spoken language and American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters, our on-site interpreting services are customized to meet your needs—whether communicating with patients and their families, students, or parties in court. Our extensive network of interpreters are fluent in both English and their language(s) of expertise. The majority are native speakers, who have a nuanced understanding of the cultural sensitivities essential for clear and proper communication.

What We Offer

Our on-site interpreting services are available in over 100 spoken languages and American Sign Language (ASL). All of our interpreters are highly qualified and have experience in a variety of professional settings. Since many of the populations we serve require service around the clock, we prioritize being available to clients for pre-scheduled and urgent requests whenever we’re needed. What To Expect

When contacting us for the first time for an on-site interpreting appointment, you will be put in contact with one of our Language Coordinators. They will help determine your specific needs and make recommendations on which type of interpreter would be most appropriate. Once we understand your unique needs, future requests can be called in or emailed directly to LUNA for prompt scheduling.

Urgent on-site interpreting requests for Spanish and ASL within the Indianapolis metro area are generally fulfilled within 30-45 minutes. Most other language requests can be filled with at least 24 hours notice. Many times, however, we can provide an interpreter the day of the request, so please don’t hesitate to ask. LUNA makes every effort to schedule the most qualified local interpreter for every appointment. If a local interpreter is not available, travel time and mileage may be factored into the cost.

We schedule hundreds of on-site interpreting appointments per day while adhering to the highest standards of professionalism. Our interpreters have completed extensive training, passed proficiency exams, and experienced a variety of professional settings. Many of our interpreters are state certified, nationally certified, and/or have earned specialty interpreting certifications for medical, legal, and educational settings.

Confidentiality

As interpreters, we’re often involved in confidential communication, and we take that responsibility seriously—whether it is for spoken, signed, or written communication. Our on-site interpreting team is fully compliant with all HIPAA rules and follows established procedures for maintaining confidential records and destroying them securely as necessary. Both LUNA Staff and our contract interpreters strictly and conscientiously comply with confidentiality agreements for all on-site interpreting assignments.
