Kristin Hoffman joins the LUNA Language Services team after 20 years of experience serving immigrant and limited English proficient (LEP) communities.
LUNA Language Services welcomes Kristin Hoffman (she/her) as Director of Translation. Kristin replaces Una Hartzell-Baird, who served in the role for the last six years. Kristin’s unique experience and expertise as the Director of the Worker Rights and Protection Project (Indiana Legal Services) positions her as an advocate for language access and an advisor to businesses seeking quality translation services and a deeper understanding of language access best practices.
Kristin shares, “My goal is to support broader language access rights globally and at home in Indiana. I hope to accomplish this by educating community partners about Title VI compliance and expanding the services LUNA provides to organizations working with or serving LEP [limited English proficient] communities.”
Bringing over 20 years of experience working with immigrant, refugee, and LEP communities in addition to multinational companies, Kristin’s expertise as an attorney encompasses immigration, employment law, and language access rights under Title VI. Going beyond her daily work as an attorney, Kristin actively supports Proteus, Inc. as Vice President of the board and serves as a board member for Grace Horizon.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Kristin as the new Director of Translation. We know that her leadership style and commitment to language access will exceptionally support our international translation team. Kristin’s experience with multinational companies and the LEP populations in Indiana is a unique combination,” Marina Hadjioannou Waters, President of LUNA Language Services, adds.
Kristin earned her BA in Anthropology from Cornell University in 2000 and her JD from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2008. She enjoys spending time with friends and family on her family’s farm in Muncie, Indiana.
