About the Afrikaans Language
Afrikaans is primarily spoken in South Africa and Namibia. Small regions of Botswana and Zimbabwe also speak Afrikaans. The language is of Dutch origin, resulting from a large Dutch settlement in South Africa in the 18th century. It is sometimes referred to as “Cape Dutch” or “kitchen Dutch”.
