Things No One Told Me About ASL to English Interpreting
June 29 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm$60
This workshop is designed for interpreters or teachers of the Deaf who have 0-5 years of experience. The content of the training is to focus on the participant’s ASL to English interpreting skills. Time will be spent on self-analysis, building English vocabulary and learning techniques to use while interpreting. The participants will engage in interactive activities, group work and practice that will deconstruct concepts in ASL and reconstruct the concepts into spoken English. All activities are designed for application purposes so that participants leave the experience with interpreting tools to use in future interpreting efforts.

– Incorporate English clauses and phrases into their interpreting product
– Begin to assess opportunities to “break form” while working from ASL to English
– Utilize practiced teaming techniques while working in the community
This workshop will be conducted in spoken English. Please email training@LUNA360.com for accommodations. Cancellations 24 hours prior to the event will receive a full refund. LUNA is committed to creating and promoting a non-discriminatory environment of mutual respect and free from bias.
